  2. 2015FreeNAS 9.3.1 which was accompanied by a blog series dedicated to FreeNAS.
  3. 2014FreeNAS 9.2 and 9.3 are released, based on FreeBSD 9, with an all new volume manager, a setup wizard and a ZFS-based boot module. This year also marked the retirement of UFS and 32-bit support.
  4. 2013FreeNAS 8.3 is released with full-disk encryption, making it one of the only Open Source projects with this feature.
  5. 2012FreeNAS 8.2 is released. The team implemented a plug-in system for FreeNAS based on PC_BSD PBIs and FreeBSD jails.
  6. 20112011 FreeNAS 8.0 is released based on FreeBSD 8 with a completely re-written codebase and graphical user interface based on Django and Dojo toolkit.
  7. 2010iXsystems takes over stewardship of the FreeNAS project from Volker Theile and continues FreeNAS development on FreeBSD.
